These works were meant for the harpsichord (but one with proper decay/sustain ;^), and they are played as written with the implicit accents in the right places (IMHO). I have never come across this right combination of the right instrument, an objective instrumentalist and some of Bach's most interesting works. Someone once wrote that Bach's works "fit the patterns of the mind"; if that person wanted to demonstrate it, this CD would better qualify for that than most. |
