Huguette Dreyfus has always been one of my favorite harpsichordists. Her performance of the Goldberg Variations is sublime. Her tempos are tasteful and she plays in a refreshingly straightforward manner, no excessive ornamentation or rhythmic shifts. The harpsichord is an authentic Henri Hemsch, 1754, Paris, restored in 1970.
Sadly this cd is out of print. |
