His playing is clean and even, and clearly demonstrates that Dupre has mastered the works presented here. While other, more recent recordings have a clearer sound and a more noticeable difference among the organ registers, in my mind the classic Cavaille-Coll sound of Saint Sulpice is supremely preferable. For those interested in vintage recordings, or the work of a true musical giant, or both, this rare recording is a must.
