The Palladian Ensemble presents instrumental chamber-settings of these works in a particularly live, bright recording. I feel their performance brings out all the right elements that make these sonatas so appealing. The recorded sound is vivid and excellent, if you adjust your levels correctly it almost sounds as if they're playing right there in the room with you. It's the perfect companion CD for a sunny saturday afternoon coffee break. Thumbs up to the Palladian Ensemble.

A truly perfect recording. The Palladian Ensemble is one of those groups who can always be relied upon to present an interesting program exquisitely performed. Although they only include 4 of the 5 Trio Sonatas, the inclusion of the 14 "Goldberg" Canons BWV 1087 makes this recording highly recommended. |
