I dont' like this version nearly as much as I like the complete album Gould recorded with Jaime Laredo. You will find more intellect and humor, ecstasy and wit on that latter one. The recording with Menuhin appears to be a "dutiful" rendering - and seems to be the way Gould talked Menuhin into playing the Schoenberg phantasy - by also playing the obligatory Bach...
