| Comments: | As long as I can't find a better recording, this is an absolute reference recording. Harnoncourt is seldom able to interpret anything else, than "old" music, but he's good at Bach. And the Concentus Musicus is really good at this recording. Even the (delicate) part of the boys-choir ist represented by one of the best boys-choirs we know, the Wiener Saengerknaben (Vienna Boys Choir). On this recording I always think I can hear the music as Bach intended it to sound. And that's the best you ca n say of a recording of our days. Kurt Equiluz is known as an excellent Bach-singer- and so is Paul Esswood. On the whole: A recording, that is worth the money you spend on it. |
