It could not have a better example of the inexhaustible capacity of resources of Bach that the spectacular contrast between the initial choirs of the two cantatas composed for both consecutive Sundays that the beginning of BWV 20, a French overture magnificently integrated, and the one of BWV 2, an archaic and austere movement, almost in the style of motete. The four soloists make well their duties. Kobow emphasizes of special way with an interpretation splendidly projected of its aria of the first part of BWV 20, whereas Zomer demonstrates a delicate brilliance in the precious aria for soprano of the same cantata. The direction of Herreweghe is as elegant as always.
