Christopher Herrick is my favorite contemporary organist and this disc is an superb example of his mastery. The sound engineers at Hyperion have done another great job in recording this (very difficult to record) instrument. Herrick is neither flashy nor gaudy in his playing. He seems to approach the music on it's own terms. This is something I find lacking in some contemporary organists: they often want to put their own mark on the music. Herrick let's the music speak for itself, which makes for a very pleasing cd. I would not hesitate to offer my highest recommendation.
