Overall a very good recording of the Mass. Seeing as how the work is actually a compilation of pieces that Bach put together near the end of his life, all styles of his composition are present. Choirs and orchestras performing this work must have the versatility to craft each piece of different style artistically. This performance is nothing short of magnificent. The small orchestra and choir allow the listener to get to know the piece on a very personal level. All of the segues from one piece to another work perfectly. I particularly enjoy the spot where the Domine Deus duet for tenor and soprano leads into the stunning Qui Tollis Peccata Mundi. Highly recommended for listeners of all backgrounds! | Acknowledgements: | Thank you to the following for submitting this recording and for your comments: | Date First Submitted: | 06/18/2000 |
