This CD is not part of the set of complete organ works by Andre Isoir. The CD presents works for Organ and Orchestra, some well known for other keyboard versions.
BWV 1059a is reconstructed from solo Alto Cantata BWV35. Isoir plays the Grand Organ of Fere-En-Tardenois, constructed in 1990 by Georges Westenfelder. The playing is brisk, bright and a true joy to listen to, even for people like me who generally have difficulty in listening too much to Organ music. The match with the accompanying orchestra is nicely balanced. Overall it is a recommended CD.
Notes:
1. I bought the CD in a "sleeve" with a Calliope catalog included. The sleeve lists the catalog # as CAL6720, while the correct # - as imprited on the CD - is CAL9720.
2. The liner notes are, unfortunately, only in French. |
