Another recording (in 15 years) done by the Academy of Ancient Music for Bach's famous violin concertos. With artists almost "renewed" (Katherin Hart is the only remaining player from the Hogwood/Schroeder+Hirons version appeared in 1982 under the label Decca/l'Oiseau-Lyre), this one has reached the artistic level of the previous one with more frivolity at the (possible) expense of rigor characteristic to Hogwood/Schroeder+Hirons. There is a bonus, the "restored" violin version of the double harpsichord concerto BWV 1060.

Lively rhythms, clear and crisp, avoids excessive sentimentality in slow movements.

A lively, stunning and breathtakingly beautiful and tender recording. |
