I only discovered Davitt Moroney recently and what a find he is. His playing is very clear and even the most difficult works sound effortless. The tempos are sometimes slow, making the counterpoint more accessible. The recorded sound is extraordinary; the harpsichord is recorded closely making it an intimate and pleasant recording. Of all the recordings of The Well-Tempered Clavier I own, this is my favorite.

I strongly recommend this recording, I've heared a lot of versions on piano and harpsichord and I'm sure Davitt Moroney is very proud of his work. He can make us feel we're in the baroque period! Great performings on: BWV.847; BWV.850; BWV.858; BWV.866; BWV.874; BWV.883 |
