An unusual recording, the last CD (of 3) has commentary by Helmuth Rilling on the versions of the St. John Passion and the pieces themselves, with some songs that are not usually included, from previous versions. The Choruses and Arias are very good, a performed with devotion and skill, the Recitatives are not as good, however. An excellent choice if you have a CD player that can make a selection of tracks. The chorus work and the Soprano and Alto soloists are especially good in this recording.
