Charles Rosen's excellent piano performance of the Art of Fugue returns in a bargain price release from Sony coupled with a number of lesser known works (some not by Bach!) played by the wonderful Rosalyn Tureck. Rosen's account must be placed amongst the best available of the Art of Fugue and Tureck gives some simply remarkable performances of (mostly) lesser known works. Her Aria Variata (BWV 989, for example, is outstanding. My only negative comment concerns the sound quality in the Italian Concerto - slighty distorted but not enough to spoil a fine performance.
